This text attempts to help learners understand life in foreign countries and consequently to explore their own ones with regard to empathy and tolerance. The methodology used in the course is student-centered, which implies the use of brainstorming, discussion, concluding and informing sharing among the learnes and the teacher. Case studies and critical incidents play in important role in the teaching-learning proces. Students study and analyze provided case studies and critical incidents, but they are also required to create their own critical incidents and case studies based on their own experiences, but also from other sources, especially the media. Students will also write and use their own learning journals, which is an effective way for to express themselves without fear or embarrassment and can help them to become more autonomous, able to take control of their own learning, and consequently to become more selfmotivated.
